Instant Pot Ham with a Pineapple Sugar Glaze will keep your WHOLE family happy! The ultimate combo of sticky sweet perfection, and ready in under an hour! Great for the holidays!
Raise your hand if making ham screams hassle! Yes, my hand is currently in the air! More times than not, which is usually around the holidays, I am in charge of the ham for my little grandma’s house.
EXCEPT it takes hours for larger hams, hogs the ENTIRE oven, and makes it almost impossible to get everything ready to eat without getting up at 4 in the morning!
So, I took the plunge and decided to experiment with my Instant Pot! BEST DECISION EVER! Afterward, I topped it off with this irresistible pineapple sugar glaze, that is melt in your mouth good!
Just so you know if you aren’t familiar, Instant Pot is a brand of pressure cookers. So if you have another brand you can still use this same recipe! Learn more about how to lose weight with your pressure cooker!
Did you know that most hams that you purchase at the store are already precooked and basically you just need to warm them up? This is one reason that making ham in the Instant Pot is literally a breeze, because the cooking time is reduced significantly, and it doesn’t hog your whole oven during the holiday season.
I usually buy Smithfield’s ham, but I am sure that there are other brands that will work. And these usually have half the bone in and spiraled; meaning they are precut. Also, if you want to skip the homemade ham glaze (I don’t recommend, lol), but the hams usually come with a prepackaged glaze that you can use as well!

What You Should Know BEFORE making Instant Pot Ham
You can cook the ham with the glaze on it, but it will not be sticky, it will be more of a juice. This is because Instant Pot uses pressure and cooks rapidly, versus simmering something on the stove.
If you want a sticky glaze, mix the glaze on the stovetop until thickened. After cooking the ham, remove from the Instant Pot and leave in the foil. Then apply the glaze, close the foil and cook 15-20 minutes in the oven.
Your cooking time will vary depending on the size of your ham. I recommend cooking it 2-3 minutes per pound,
Ingredients for Instant Pot Ham
1 5-8-pound ham (depending on the size of your Instant Pot)
1 cup of water
For the Pineapple sugar glaze
1 20 oz can crush pineapple
¾ c brown sugar
½ tsp cinnamon
How to Make Instant Pot Ham with Pineapple Sugar Glaze
- Set your ham in the middle of a large sheet of heavy-duty foil.
- Wrap foil around ham and secure tightly
- Pour in 1 cup of water
- Place trivet inside of Instant Pot
- Place ham (wrapped in foil) on top of the trivet.
- Secure the Instant Pot lid and set the knob to the sealing position.
- Cook on Manual/High pressure 15-25 minutes depending on the weight of your ham.
- Let the Instant Pot naturally release for about 10 minutes, then perform a quick release.
**Now would be the time to place the ham in the oven if you are wanting that caramelized sauce. If not, just leave the juices in the foil and place it in a roasting pan.
