Today is Nell's 14th birthday! And while I will definitely be writing a birthday post later, we just got back from shooting some pics at the pool and I just had to share! Vivitar sent me a DVR786 action camera to try out, and we had a blast doing so!

The DVR786 is available at Wal-Mart (and Amazon!), and is only $59.99 – which is a fraction of the cost of other action cameras. This one does photo and video, and both are pretty darn awesome. While using the waterproof enclosure (included), it's submersible up to 30 feet. Also included are a bike/ATV mount and helmet bracket. No need to buy expensive add-ons … they're all included!

Designed to capture all family adventures in dynamic, full high definition 1080p at 30 fps, the Vivitar DVR786 will also capture 12MP still images and includes an easy-to-use remote control.

The remote allows for easy on demand recording so consumers capture only the footage and still shots they want with the touch of a button, without having to stop or fumble with the camera. This conserves storage capacity and saves time in the video editing process.

This camera is rugged, and versatile. Take it on your hikes, strap it to your kid while they're riding their bike! The possibilities truly are endless. You've seen the amazing action footage others have taken … now it's time to take your own.

The images are crisp and clear, even underwater. It was overcast today but we were still able to get some great shots.

  1. There are many things I can think of to do with a Vivitar camera! I love nature & take many photos on my daily walks & hikes. Whether it be animals or beautiful fall colors to strange things seen or my sweetie self! I have a some about to graduate high school & would love to give him this. We have a trip to VA planned after his graduation so this would be a perfect gift to start his new adventure!

  2. I would love to win this camera for my son. He loves to do all kinds of stuff outdoors and loves to play around filming it. this camera sounds like it is just what he needs. waterproof and a bike mount would be perfect for him. 10/22 is his Bday so what a nice present it would be for him! Thanks for the chance!!

  3. I would use this camera under water when snorkeling or scuba diving as well as just funning around in our in-ground pool when it’s not cold and freezing out. (Buffalo NY)

  4. I would love this camera for myself since I love to take all kinds of pictures and sure I can’t ever get enough of pictures and well I never get any kind of present for christmas or birthday, my family is not here in this country and my husband’s family are just a.h. haha so no gifts for me for the past few years, this would be great to have and enjoy it out there without worrying about rain or a pool, how cool is that? Awesome I’d say.

  5. I would love to have this camera. Your photos look awesome. I would be using to capture great memories with my boys, ages 4 and 6 months. It would be wonderful to get some underwater images.

  6. Being a father of 4, who knows what we would do with this camera, but i can tell you one thing. My Kids would come up with some Amazing photos. We go to Puerto PeƱasco (AKA Rocky Point) every year and with us living in the Phx area we are in the pool alot! We as a family would love this camera and would get a lot of use out of it.

  7. I would love to win this camera!! With it I would take pictures of our grandson learning to swim. We would also get pictures of different ocean life (we live in Maine) to teach pre-school with. What an awesome personal use camera as well as teaching camera!!

  8. I would use it for my family kids, swim classes on vacations family time holidays etc. Can never have enough pictures.

  9. I love your underwater photos. It looks awesome! That is so cool! I want to have this camera so that I can snap some underwater photos on my next trip too

  10. I would use it to take pictures of my kids! I have 4, and they’re always doing something!

  11. I would use this camera to create everlasting g photos of people I hold dearest in my life. I was once told that people never appreciate photographs until they are all that they have left, and I never want to be at a shortage.

  12. I would love to win this camera. I have a 2 year old grandson and would love to be able to take photos of him growing up. I also have 2 daughters that are graduating college soon and our youngest daughter has so many things in her life to capture. I had a good camera but had to sell it because of financial hard times and haven’t been able to buy another one.

  13. I would use it to take perspective photos looking up at the world through water. I would also use it for travel videos.

  14. Those underwater pictures are amazing! I would like to use the camera to take pictures everywhere on our nature hikes. The video would be cool for work to showcase things that just don’t translate when you are trying to put them into words!

  15. I’ve been wanting to get one of these for my kayak. I kayak at least once a week and many times would like to capture footage as I paddle or catch a bird flying close by. I currently use my cellphone (not waterproof) to capture pictures of the water but the image quality is poor.

  16. I would use it for to quality photos of my husband dressed as Santa at the animal shelter as our gift to the shelter to use the photos for showing the public during Christmas time. We did this last year when the real Santa visited the cats at the shelter, and made the pictures into a video too, and it successfully led to a cat being adopted

  17. I would use this to record my son. He loves to build legos and this would be perfect.
He also has his own “show” and we would use it for that too.

  18. If I would win this camera would get lots of use. I have 14 grandkids and they all play sports. Most of them more than just one. I would become Nana the picture taking fool…lol

  19. I would use it for when we go to Mexico on vacation. It tends to rain a lot there and I don’t want my phone to suffer from water damaged.

  20. I would give this to my boyfriend as a birthday present. It would be the perfect gift to give him because he loves fliming the adventures he goes on. He is going to Blizzcon in less than 2 weeks. It’s s huge video game convention with thousands of people dressed up in their favorite characters and many other cosplays. He is also going to explore California for the first time such as going to Universal Studios, Disneyworld, and it’s many attractions. He plans to go to the beach and this will be a awesome way to flim with his friends underwater. Since I can’t be there with him, he will bring back his adventures to share with me.

  21. I would be using this camera for several things, while I am traveling thru southeast Missouri heading towards my Momma’s house, swimming with my youngest granddaughter ,London and I can only imagine what kind of shots I can get with my puppy dogs and my parrot. Love it!

  22. This would be awesome to use when me and my family take a cross country trip to Yosemite this summer.
