Failing at menu planning lately? Me, too! While M was here, it was kind of our “thing” to sit down and plan meals. She’d decide which days she wanted to cook, and then Rachel and I cooked on the other days. One of the dishes she wanted to cook included basmati rice. Because rice takes forever to cook, that’s not one meal I was going to pick up the slack on after she had to leave. However, I discovered Success® Basmati Rice and it’s perfect, because it’s full of flavor but also very easy to cook.
Rachel cooked the tuna for this post — when I cook it, there’s no pink in the middle! The girls prefer it cooked all the way through, and it tastes great that way. So, if you want it well done, go for it!
Sesame Teriyaki Tuna With Curry Sauce and Success® Basmati Rice
2 tablespoons teriyaki sauce
1 teaspoon curry powder
tuna steaks
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons sesame seeds
Optional:
Coconut Curry Sauce
1 tablespoon curry powder
1 tablespoon flour
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup coconut milk
For tuna: Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sprinkle tuna with salt. Combine teriyaki, sesame seeds, and curry powder in a shallow dish. Roll tuna in sesame seeds. Add tuna to pan; cook 2 minutes each side.
Have extra time? Soak the tuna in teriyaki for about 20 minutes before you cook it and it’s more flavorful.
For coconut curry sauce: Combine all ingredients and blend until smooth. Use as a dip or pour over the top of the tuna.
Success® Basmati Rice is the only boil-in-bag Basmati rice available. Its distinctive fragrance and fluffy texture ensured the girls enjoyed it, and its pre-portioned, boil-in-bag means no mess, and it delivers fully cooked rice in 10 minutes.
I love having things in my pantry that I can use to whip up an impressive dinner without much notice. Pulling off a successful dinner with the help of Success® Basmati Rice is simple – you just have to add a few spices and it’s ready to go!
Because Saff is allergic to coconut, I skipped the curry sauce this time around. But, the recipe listed above is the best one I’ve found and it has a great flavor.
