Cherry Limeade “Elftail”
We’ve been making mocktails a few times a week, so I figured why not let the elves get in on the fun? We’re calling these drinks “Elftails” and they were first inspired by the Elf on the Shelf series because my kids really liked it. We turned it into an Elf on the Shelf Cherry Limeade Elftail Mocktail and it is sure to impress…
So What Is Elf on the Shelf?
If your kids didn’t happen to be into it, you might actually not know what it is. For the longest time I didn’t. So, here it is in a nutshell:
It really comes down to the story of some magical elves that will appear in your home sometime after Thanksgiving. They will inspire your children to behave wonderfully in order to make it onto Santa’s nice list. There are a few books in the series and a few rules the children must adhere to, but all in all, it is a fable designed to teach them to be good for Santa.Â
Hey, it if works, I’m all for it! :)
The story is a cute one and it inspired me to find a fun way to incorporate it into a fun drink for the holidays. However, I soon realized the drink is magically refreshing and works wonders for quenching your thirst on those hot summer days as well.Â
So, to make the drink, I bought a set of elves rather than buying the Elf on the Shelf Set but you can use any set you like, or any other theme if you prefer that. You really don’t even need the Elf, but if your kids are into it, the Elf’s are definitely the way to go in December. And if you just want to learn more about the stories, feel free to check those out as well.
The drink is delicious and fun and something wonderful to do with the kids, or grands, any time of year. With just 3 ingredients, they’re a cinch to make, fast and something the kids can be very involved in – which is always an added bonus in my book. Â
Â
To make them even cuter, I got these mason jars with handles because they were just too freakin’ adorable to pass up. I use them all summer long for fun iced drinks and then at the holidays for the Elf on the Shelf Cherry Limeade Elftail Mocktails – so they get plenty of use.Â
Besides, when I found these cute mason cups and Elves super cheap on Amazon, I knew I needed to come up with something fun – and so I did!Â
I feel like the Elf on the Shelf thing just continues to blow up in popularity. Around the holidays, in fact, you see the Elves everywhere and the kids pretty much go crazy for them. So this drink is a great way to put smiles on their faces and get them really involved.Â
One other thing about the Cherry Limeade Elftail drink: I also like to add some of the Maraschino cherry juice to the drink. It gives it a nice, pink color and makes it even more festive and fun.Â
Please enjoy!
