Am I Old Enough for a Mid-Life Crisis?

That's the question I'm asking myself here.

I got my hair chopped off, and then I dyed it. Fun stuff! Can you guess what color I chose?

Blonde, you guess?

It was blonde for a moment or two…

If you guessed PURPLE you were right!! And I LOVE IT!!!

What color would you dye your hair if you could? And what's stoppin' ya?

  1. I’m feeling the same way right now…it’s ironic to come across your facebook post at this exact moment. I am looking @ Manic Panic hair dye to dye my hair either purple or red… :D I dyed my hair fire engine red once, when I was 15. I haven’t chosen another “out of the mom norm” (if you will…) since then, but lately I’ve wanted to shake things up. I’ll post pics of my hair when I do it. :D Your hair- I like it!

    1. Can’t wait to see pics!! I used SPLAT and it dyed the crap out of my scalp (which is why it’s a partial photo of me until it fades). lol

  2. I have SO many color plans for my hair once Baby is born. I have no problem coloring my hair whichever shade of crazy I desire. :)

  3. 0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o Sadie I Looooooovvvvveeeeee it so much.

  4. It looks awesome, Sadie! I’m not quite spunky enough for purple, but I dye my hair red. I’m getting ready to dye my hair red with henna, which is apparently QUITE red.

  5. Be warned…. splat will turn your pillows, towels, clothes, bathroom, EVERYTHING purple. I turned our hotel room red with their dye when we went to see Halestorm live a couple of weeks ago in Norfolk. I also failed at getting the same hair color as the drummer, whom we met.

    1. You definitely have to make sure your hair is dry before it touches anything! It’s crazy!

  6. I LOVE IT!!! I dyed the underneath layers of mine “raspberry” splat color lol. I loved it while it lasted. Now most of the raspberry has faded and in the words of my sooo tact 5 year old, I have “sunset hair”. Which basically means, all shades between red and blond. yeah.

  7. I love it. I’ve wanted to dye my hair purple for a while. I’ve had streaks of color before, but I haven’t talked myself into doing that to my whole head yet. I have light hair naturally and it took me 6 months to get up the courage to dye it black, but once I did, that’s the color I have kept it for 2 yrs now. My sister is a hair dresser so she does it for me. What brand of color did you use?

Laura be careful using the manic panic color because it will bleed on to everything it touches. My sister used it and it stained her skin when she was in the shower.

    1. I used SPLAT and it dyed my scalp but I think it will fade quickly. :)

  8. I Highschool I died my hair purple, green, blue, orange, pink, black, and bleach blonde. But now I woild go that crazy.

  9. Is it really a midlife crisis to have fun with your hair? If so, I’ve been having I’ve since I was 13, lol. Every summer I go Sunshine blonde, and I’ve been every color in between in the meantime. I really don’t like manic panic, it fades too fast! Splat is what I use on my 12 year Olds hair, he gets to pick a new color every summer but his school has a no unnatural colors rule, so it’s gone by the time school starts. I Usually pick my dye up at sally, just whatever brand is at the right price. I love to be the weird lady, out here on my farm, selling veg and eggs at the farmers market, with my weird rainbow hair. The good old boy farmers or here have totally gotten used to me now, “hey, there’s Kim, that girl has more tattoos and the strangest hair and clothes ever, but damned if she can’t grow done great food!” Lol!

  10. I love it Sadie!!! I have been thinking about doing mine too, just cant decide on a color.

  11. I at the point of doing an interesting streak job.

  12. Pink. nursing school says I have to keep natural color

  13. OMG! You are brave! I have dark hair so I would go with platinum blonde or something really opposite mine.

  14. Love your new hair color :) Definitely couldn’t do the whole head that color.

I’ve been eyeing my jar of purple the last couple months…I miss my purple and teal streaks. I’ll have to take the step to bleach my hair again,t hat’s what’s putting me off. No roommates to do it for me, have to do it myself, lol.

Btw, for purple, I use the Jerome Russell colors and they are fabulous! The purple is very bold and lasts quite a long time. The reds and teal not as much, but still, I’ve found that brand to be much better and kinder to my hair (bonus, it smells like the grape Mr. Sketch Marker).

  15. Oh, trust me, I did. Since then, I’ve covered it up an there’s still a quarter sized spot that refuses to change from that splat color

  16. Purple is such a fun color! I used to dye my hair red with koolaid just for fun.

  17. nicely done. i think you can do this at any age. love the colors.

  18. OMG! I love it!! That color looks amazing on you! If I could dye my hair any color it would be red. Not red head-ginger red, but bright, fire engine red! What’s stopping me? Probably the fact that I have acne that flairs up bad at least once a month, and I found out a long time ago, bright colors on my head and a nasty, acne face do not go well together. The red just makes the spots on my face stand out super bad! I wonder if green or blue would do the same? Hmmmmm…we’ll see. Maybe some day :P

  19. OMG you used SPLAT? is everything in your house stained? LOL Last year I did a fire engine red color and holy hell my house was a murder scene! Everytime I showere for weeks I had red all over my tub and curtains. my clothes were red, if i sweat in my sleep my pillow turned red! and everyone swore it would wear out.. HAHA I was NOT so lucky.. That shit wouldn’t come out for nothing! I dyef over it I know 5 or 6 different colors and even today you can still see some of the red in certain light! I will never use that stuff again =[ )although the color does look good on you) =]

    1. LOL I did ruin my shower curtain but other than that, nope. I can probably cover it with black without any problems, and black was my next color choice anyway, luckily! :)

  20. Eeek! I love it! I don’t think you are old enough for a mid-life crisis and you aren’t too old for purple hair.. I have purple highlights :)

  21. I am old enough to have a mid life crisis so I guess it is good that I don’t really feel my age. I have always felt so much younger than my actual age. When I growing up I had dark brown hair. I, however, wanted red and started dying my hair red. It’s been all shades of red, but seeing as how I’m a bit conservative nothing outrageous. So tonight I was standing in front of the mirror thinking it was probably time for me to dye my hair again. I’ve been toying with the idea of going back to brown. I took a long look in the mirror and am shocked at how much gray hair I have. WHEN DID THAT HAPPEN? I mean, I knew that were a few gray strands but what is this? I have so much gray now it’s scary. I’m going out tomorrow to buy a box of dye and to buy a wig!

  22. The purple looks good! I’ve been wanting to color my hair purple for a while. Maybe I’ll take the plunge later this year after I’m in a wedding.

  23. Is that a joke? I’ve accidentally ended up with some weird colors before.I had to go to the salon to have it fixed. Good luck.

  24. I love it! I need to do something fun like this to my hair!

  25. If I didn’t work in a really conservative environment and I looked good as a blonde I would dye my hair blonde.

  26. I don’t think I’d dye my hair. I spent my entire childhood hating my naturally medium-dark auburn (think of the adele pic – the one with the cigarette in her mouth, and you’ll get the idea) hair because it made me different, and now that I’m old enough to *like* being different, it’s perfect for me. I used to, however, keep blonde highlights in it, but it’s just too long to mess with that now (I can sit on it…). So now, I realize that the super flowing dark red witch-looking hippie hair is just so ‘me’.

The purple, I have to say, it a VERY bold move!
It looks good though!!! We have an 8 year old little boy next door that rocks a blue mohawk! Anything goes nowadays!
