I was shopping at a health food store the other day and noticed Zevia on the end cap. We were sent Zevia to sample a few weeks ago, but until this week I hadn’t seen it in stores. I was excited to see it in this particular store because it’s our favorite to shop at!
Zevia is an all natural zero calorie soda. Zevia has no artificial sweeteners or colors, and is a great alternative to the soda you are drinking right now.
5 of the flavors have caffeine (Cola, Dr. Zevia, Mountain Zevia, Cherry Cola, and Lime Cola). The other 10 do not.
All 5 of us taste tested the 6 flavors of Zevia. Our favorites were:
Rachel: Cherry Cola
Sadie: Mountain Zevia
Jenelle: Dr. Zevia
Gracelynn: ALL OF THEM
Sapphire: Cherry Cola
While we poured ours in cups for taste testing purposes, Zevia suggests that when sampling Zevia to keep it cold! Zevia says cool is not cold enough! It’s recommended that you drink it out of the can. It gets warm and flat in a cup. We did not have this experience, but with five of us sipping, they didn’t last long enough to get flat!
As far as the taste and carbonation, I think Zevia can definitely be compared to your average diet soda. The flavors were spot on, and it gave us that fizz fix that we crave when we want soda. I like that it’s healthy enough to let the kids have a can of once in a while, and of course they love that as well! If you aren’t fond of diet sodas, I’d try the Cherry Cola and the Mountain Zevia first. Those two tasted the least “diet” to us.
Overall, the kids gave Zevia two thumbs up. I personally don’t care for diet soda but I still liked some of the flavors, and Rachel agrees that it tastes better than most diet sodas we have tasted. With the high sugar content in most sodas, I think Zevia is a good alternative that is worth checking out!
