If you check out Sh*t My Pets Ruined, you’ll probably see lots of different expensive things that dogs have ruined. Luckily, so far, my doggie has only destroyed dog toys.
My precious little blue nosed pit bull puppy, Isis, is a chewer. She just loves to chew. Chew. Chew. All day long. When we first got her, we didn’t realize how much she liked it so we just got some cheap toys for her. By cheap I mean about $5. She destroyed those within a few hours, so we upgraded to the mid-grade toys. They were about $8-$10. I figured if they lasted longer, they were worth it. The rope toy in this picture actually lasted a few days, but then she took a big dump (thankfully it was outside!) and part of the rope was wrapped in her poo. So, um, ew. No more ropes. On that same note, no more tennis balls because she chewed the outside fuzzy stuff off and the same thing happened. Gag.
All the while, everyone kept telling us to get KONG
toys. They were $20, so of course I said no way! I’m not spending $20 on one dog toy! So I kept buying the cheaper ones. She kept destroying them. She even destroyed the toys made out of firefighter hose material – the ones that say “indestructible”. HA!
I’m not quite sure how many times I spent $20, over and over, searching for toys she wouldn’t be able to annihilate, but it finally clicked and I got her a KONG
. I just discovered that they’re under $10 on Amazon and you can get free shipping, so that’s where I’m headed next time I need a toy for Isis.
This thing is amazing. Isis has had one for about 3 weeks now and has not destroyed it. You can fill it with little treats from the pet store that are about a buck a piece, and it will take the dog a few days to get it out. When the Kong is empty you can fill it with peanut butter as long as your dog doesn’t have allergies. They have puppy, classic, and senior Kongs. Isis is still using the puppy one, and will until she is about a year old. They also have smaller kongs for the little yappy dog breeds. :)
I didn’t get paid to do this post. I didn’t get all those toys that she destroyed for free, and I didn’t get the Kong for free but I will earn a small amount of $$ if you purchase from my Amazon affiliate links above. I only recommend products I truly trust. The KONG toys are the only ones I will get for my dog from this point forward.
