Pixar’s Brave: Movie Review

I took my daughters to the movie premier of Pixar’s Brave a few weeks before it came out. The entire experience was great for them – they usually don’t get to attend movie premiers with me, and taking all three of them to the movie theater at the same time never happens.

Brave delivered everything you’d expect from Pixar. This film takes place in medieval Scotland with amazing scenery – castles, forests – and kings and queens. Merida, a beautiful princess with amazing red hair and tomboyish attitude, would rather shoot a bow and arrow than choose a future husband, much to her mother’s disappointment.

Merida, fed up with the competition for her hand in marriage, makes a run for it, and ends up in charge of her own fate. I won’t give it all away, though, so you’ll have to go see it for yourself. Brave opens in theaters June 21st.

Packed with amazing voice actors, perfect animation, and a super cute story line, Brave will not disappoint!

While all three girls really enjoyed the movie (as did I), Gracelynn got a little spooked during a few of the parts. In all fairness, she is the family “scaredy cat”, but the theater was really loud so I think that was part of the reason she got spooked. This movie is going to be perfect to watch on DVD, because it will be at a normal volume (and size), so there will be nothing to be scared of. If you have kids that are easily spooked, keep that in mind when taking them along.

Some say Brave didn’t hit the mark, but Slap Dash Mom and the gang give it 2 thumbs up!
