My 11 Year Old is Weird

I don’t mind that my 11 year old, Jenelle, is really weird. Maybe she’s just unique, or odd, or… whatever. But she’s not like most 11 year old girls I know. She wears her duck tape shoes on a regular basis, has a “boys” haircut, and prefers to wear a tie instead of a dress.

And I love her, to the moon and back.

When I asked what she wanted for her birthday, she didn’t know. She asked for new bras, socks, school uniform pants, and fishnet gloves. *yawn*

We went walking around some of the shops down in Maplewood last week, and stopped in at the typewriter shop. Nell fell in love with the typewriters. She saw a really nice one and asked if it could be her birthday present. I said maybe.. and left it at that.

Before I decided to hide some of the presents downstairs

Her birthday is technically tomorrow, but I wanted to surprise her, so I wrapped all of her presents and put a few of them on the kitchen table. I hid the rest downstairs, outside on the patio. I could tell she was happy with the few presents she had, but she was sad that she didn’t get the typewriter.

When she walked outside and saw the typewriter, she FUH-REAKED out!! It was so cute! She was honestly surprised, and just so happy. :)

The beloved typewriter. It had only been used a little, and the shop cleaned it up really nicely. It’s SO heavy! And yes, it’s electric. The manual typewriters are harder to use, and Nell wants to write a book, so I figured this one would be best.
