I See My Very Own Pirate Tale {Review}

Written by Maia Haag and Illustrated by Lisa Falkenstern, My Very Own Pirate Tale was created just for my daughter Sapphire. With Saff having such a unique name, anything I order for her has to be customized because, well, who names their daughter Sapphire? :)

This beautifully illustrated hardcover book came in the mail shortly after we ordered it (yay for super-fast shipping!). While My Very Own Pirate Tale tells a story, it also teaches your child how to spell their name – letter by letter. Each two-page fold has a gorgeous illustration, the next letter in your child’s name, the name of an animal that starts with the letter, and it tells part of the story as well. I like that the text in this book isn’t crazy or whimsical. I’ve found that a lot of children’s books lately have tried to get creative with the fonts. This isn’t a good idea for those that are still learning their letters, so I am glad I See Me realized that and kept it simple without making it boring.

At the beginning of the book, it has a personalized note for your child. The note says the story was created just for them, and says who it is from, as well as their birthdate.

I received this book as part of a Karma Media campaign. All opinions are 100% mine.
