Diary of a Wimpy Kid is a huge hit in our house – though I admit I wasn’t keen on the books at first, they grew on me. Then came the movie. The kids begged to go see it, so I had Grandma take them. :) They all really enjoyed it and have seen it a handful of times since. My two older girls are 10 and 7 and they’ve read all of the books. My 5 year old can’t read them yet but has her sisters read them to her on a regular basis. She checks them out at the library EVERY single time we go, even though she’s had them read to her a dozen times or more. I think they really like the drawings in the books – so much so, that they drew their own version of our family, Diary of a Wimpy Kid style!
The girls really had a fun time drawing these photos while we were watching Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Sometimes on Family Game Night we will watch movies while playing games. Once in a while I like to actually focus on the movie, but if we’ve seen it before, it’s nice to have other things to do at the same time.
And, just for reference, I figured I’d throw in an actual photo of our family. :)
I’ve lost 25 pounds since then, thankfully, but it’s the most recent we have of the entire family – usually one of us is behind the camera!
Another huge hit in our house? Del Monte Fruit Cups! I headed to Wal-Mart and the entire stock of Del Monte fruit cups was running low! The other day when I looked for them, the entire stock was gone. Even though they were the same price as another brand, the other brand was fully stocked. I guess the Del Monte fruit cups are obviously the favorite!
As you know, we are vegetarians – and Sapphire is allergic to fresh fruit! :( It’s so hard for her because she loves fruit! Her allergy is caused by the pollen spores (and other things she’s allergic to – grass, weeds, trees, etc) “contaminating” the fruit. Her allergies aren’t affected if she eats the Del Monte fruit cups, though! So instead of getting an itchy throat and broken out face, she gets to enjoy real fruit, in a convenient little cup. These cups are perfect to send in school lunches, and would work well with my 500+ Lunch Ideas.
A fun way for us to unwind is to watch movies together, as a family. We’ve been pretty stressed out with the kids going back to school, Sapphire starting school for the FIRST time, and just all of the extra preparation required to get ready is a bit headache. Luckily, we were able to grab the Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie and sit back with our Del Monte fruit cups, and veg out for a bit. The girls enjoyed their fruit cups even though they weren’t refrigerated, while I enjoyed mine cold. It’s fun to drain the fruit juice and add the fruit to ice cream or any other cold treat like yogurt or pudding. We don’t eat jell-o since it’s not vegetarian, but I think the fruit cups would make an awesome addition to any jell-o flavor!
