Today was the big day!!
We followed up our huge book shopping spree with a visit to a local elementary school to surprise them with a donation!
We really enjoyed shopping for new books for the teachers, because they said they were in need of books for their classroom libraries. While we fell in love with this Dora book, we decided not to get it because it’s so awesome that it could cause a riot! :)
If you missed the post about our shopping trip, be sure to check it out (#NickCFK shopping trip).
We weren’t able to fill the red tub up quite to the top, because we only had two weeks to collect the books – but we are going to bring another donation to them in a month or so, and hope to have a new one filled by then!
We arrived at the school, ready to donate!
The school was having an event, so we knew we could find a few kids to join us for our photos! Most of the students are pretty camera shy, so it was a shot in the dark, but we found a few unsuspecting victims super cute volunteers! We were able to donate well over 100 books!
This is where I need YOUR HELP!
I REALLY need you to participate in the Big Help Book Drive in your own community and report it on the Champions for Kids website! It’s your time to shine! Be one of millions to help CFK meet their goal of 20 million people by 2020. Get your kids involved – invite your church, scout group, or even just your neighbors to participate in this project. I’d love to see your photos if you do!
To find out more about doing your own service project, check out the Champions for Kids website or find them on Twitter (@champions4kids). You can also follow Champions for Kids on Facebook!
Still not convinced?
A few of the many benefits of reading:
I love that Nickelodeon offers books that include our favorite characters (like Dora!), and are engaging for readers that are on all levels. Find Nickelodeon on Facebook and Twitter (@nickelodeontv) to learn more.
