Back to School Tips + Donating Without Leaving the House!

When it comes to Back to School time, I should be a pro since my oldest is going into 5th grade, but it never fails – I’m always scrambling around at the last minute trying to figure out what in the world needs to be done! It changes every year, it seems, but some things are just the basics.

For us, getting ready for Back to School means buying new backpacks, uniforms, lunch boxes (and food to go in them!), and school supplies. On the first day of school, I clean the house from top to bottom so the kids get a break from their chores for a little while so they can get adjusted to the new schedule of going to school instead of just being home with Mom all day.

I love that the Boys and Girls Club of America offers educational tip sheets for parents like me (and you!) to download and use. If you click on the “Get Ready” section of their website you will see exactly what I’m talking about.

The Boys and Girls Club of America and Disney have partnered to launch “Tools for Back to School”, which includes a pop-quiz game where supplies are donated to BGCA for every correct answer your score.

Visit this page and click “PLAY NOW” to start donating supplies!

Don’t worry, if you get an answer wrong, they give you another shot! For every 5 you answer correctly, they donate school supplies!

It feels awesome being able to help out without leaving the comfort of your own home, right? Well, if you do happen to leave – and visit JC Penney (they’re giving FREE kid’s hair cuts this month!) – participate in the “Round Up” program to donate even MORE to BGCA. If you round up your purchase, they donate that amount to the BGCA. So if your purchase is $12.01, and you round it up to $13, you’ve just donated nearly a dollar without having to do any extra work. At the time of this post, nearly $700,000 has been raised!

I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Boys and Girls Club. I received a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.
